KRCG 13 is looking for a Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ to present the weather forecast for the weekend news and MMJ 3 days a week. Reporting stories will primarily cover weather, climate, and environmental topics.
The main day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include…
- Forecasting, producing, and presenting clear and concise weathercasts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
- Produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events
- Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories
- Make public appearances on behalf of the station
- Fill in for the other meteorologists on weather when needed. Shoot, edit, and create content for news when needed.
- Post content for various social media platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
- Write, shoot, and edit content for on-air and online platforms
What skills are required to be successful in this role?
- Ability to tell memorable and meaningful weather stories
- Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots
- In-depth knowledge of forecasting
- Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
- Experience with The Weather Company Max graphics software preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving record
