To help bring our vision to life, we are seeking an experienced Editorial Director who will work as equal parts curator and creator. As a leader, you’ll drive editorial strategy, oversee content creation, and collaborate with a dynamic team of local journalists to captivate audiences with compelling that celebrates the history and culture of great nation. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in creating multi-platform original programming across digital, video, and audio. If you have a keen interest in the genre and a strong editorial background, we’d love to hear from you. 


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Establish and execute a multi-platform content strategy across all digital platforms inclusive of all creative mediums. 

  • Motivate and mentor a small editorial team of producers and editors in the development and production of engaging and highly sharable digital content. 

  • Lead daily content strategy sessions and collaborate with our Regional Digital Content Team to identify and amplify existing stories. 

  • Oversee the repackaging and rebranding of locally produced content, creating platform specific assets that adhere to publishing best practices. 

  • Oversee all aspects of both in-studio and on-location shoots from conception to delivery. 

  • Work cross-functionally with Sales on all RFP responses and manage the full-service production of approved Branded Content. 

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing to ensure the proper amplification of all content. 

  • Ensure all content aligns with the brand aesthetic, established tone of voice, and follows journalistic best practices. 

  • Collect and analyze audience analytics and competitive performance information to make data-informed coverage decisions. 
     


QUALIFICATIONS



  • 10+ years writing/producing original content in print, video, and social. 

  • 5+ years leadership or senior management experience overseeing small teams at a major publication/broadcaster 

  • Social Media expert with extensive familiarity with all platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. 

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and other production tools. 

  • Substantial understanding of and passion for audience analytics, and demonstrated track record of growing audience at a major publication 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and in person. Experience communicating with senior executives. 

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain and motivate team; willingness to delegate responsibilities and ability to effectively lead 

  • Must possess an immense curiosity about the world around you, and a passion for storytelling 

  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity as the team evolves over time.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $145,000 to $165,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan. In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible for performance-based bonuses, which are determined by individual and company performance metrics.
